Usually, someone asks "Why do I need a Launcher? Palm already does that!" This is true! But Palm doesn't do it anywhere close to how zLauncher can do it! Besides being able to give you a customized look with your own pictures, and colors, it easily allows you to move apps to the card, saving memory on your card. It allows you to hide things and categorize them. Also, when you install an app on your Treo to try it out, decide you don't like it, and you delete it right? Then later on, you notice that your memory isn\\'t what it should be, and you investigate to find that when you deleted that app, it had a lot of associated databases that didn\\'t delete. zLauncher manages this very accurately, and makes getting rid of unwanted apps a very easy process. Its also a Filemanager. Now for a long time, I used FileZ to accomplish these sort of tasks. But after installing zLauncher, I realized I no longer needed this app. What I love about zLauncher is that I can install an app direct to my Treo, select the app, by holding it down with the stylus, and getting a menu. One of the menus asks me if I would like to move the app to the card? I say, yes, and it happens, leaving only a very small shortcut on my Treo. It also has the ability to support 3rd party plug-ins, but in all honesty, these are not a very large selection to choose from currently. I have a "calendar" plug-in as well as one that supports the freeware break-out game "Hardball." But what zLauncher gives me is customization! And I mean customization! Suppose when you opened your Homepage, all you wanted to see is your 5 main apps! Create a new "tab", move those 5 apps and tell zLauncher that this is the "default" page. If your left-handed like I am, you will love the fact, that zLauncher has a left-handed button that allows you to move the scroll bar from the right hand side of the screen to the left hand side. Choose between "large" and "small" icons. Or even a list! Got a picture of a loved one that you would like to see everytime you open zLauncher? You can load that picture as a background! Got several pictures? Pick one for each "Tab" that you create! You have the ability to show/hide all kinds of icons and short-cuts. And the top and bottom task bars can be set to "transparent" to fade various elements. And you can further customize across Tabs. For example, my calendar function is set to only appear on certain screens. And there are all kinds of themes available for zLauncher. Many of them are freeware and can be found at any Palm Freeware site. There are also some really nice themes that you can buy. The theme I am currently using came from a pack of 15 I bought from "Everything Treo ". I have been using this one for close to a year, and I haven't grown tired of it! If I ever do, I have many to choose from! Below is a gallery if you will of my Treo's different looks over time. Many are free themes with different settings. I hope you enjoy!
