Back in the day, to get a GPS unit in a vehicle, you were looking at around $800 for a bare bones system. But lately, prices for GPS units have simply Plummeted! There are several mobile units teetering the $100 pricepoint, and that basically makes reliable navagation affordable to anyone. So I tried to figure out just what I needed in a gps unit. What did I really want, and what did I really not care about and what was I willing to spend! I had used a friend's Garmin C330 and was impressed with it. That one could be had for about $130. But I learned the memory in that particular device was so small, that upgrading it to the latest maps, usually meant deleting either the Canadian Maps or the USA maps. The size of the Garmin NUVI 350 and its 8 hour battery life away from any chargers was appealing to me. But basically I wanted to know how much GPS I could get for around $175. This led me to the Tom Tom One 3rd edition. I put this unit to the test this week as I let it guide me from Colorado Springs, Colorado to Northeast, Tennessee. A total of 1,428 miles. Below is my video review of this device.
UPDATE: I have added a video of the Tom Tom One in Action .
