Remember when you had to go to the store and buy film, stick it in your camera, take it out, take it somewhere, have them develop it, bring the prints home, and stick them in a drawer? And if you did anything with them, you went and bought a picture frame, and stuck that picture in it. You had to choose which picture to put in that frame? Well there is a new game in town! And Shomi is providing a very affordable way to display many pictures at once. This particular unit sells for around $70.00. It features a 7" screen and will hold one gig of pictures. Here are some specs: - 480X234 resolution
- 16:9 viewing ratio
- accepts SD, XD, MS, MMC/MMC+ cards
- USB port
- On Screen Programming
- Transitional effects
- Built in Clock and date feature
- Plays jpeg, TIFF and Gif formats
- Two Megs of onboard memory
Below is my video review of this product. Overall, a great unit. If you like pictures, this is well worth the price. Consider the price of buying ten 7" picture frames and then think about a picture frame that transitions say 500 pictures in one frame and that makes this unit a great buy for $69.00
UPDATE: I have added another video explaining what I think are the best ways to add photos to the Shomi Digital Player
